We're Back!

Sorry everyone! I'm not very good at writing in my journal either! Instead of worrying about whether I have included everything from the past few months or not, I'll just give you a brief summary of how things are now, so that I don't feel too overwhelmed. Let's see... we've been home from Utah now for a couple of weeks. We had a great time during our Christmas vacation. It was wonderful to be with family, and it's also wonderful to be home. It's interesting how, if you live in too many places in your life, you feel that you can never be happy in one place... a piece of your heart is everywhere you've been! At the same time, I could say that my capacity to love is greater, and my love is shared with people in many different places. Gosh, I guess I wax sentimental when I've been away from the blog too long!

Baby Lulu is the most wonderful little girl ever! She has brought so much joy into our home. It's difficult for me to ever be away from her. Her new things are rolling from wall to wall, sitting up, and curling just the tip of her little tongue. She also makes a funny hissing sound and likes to pull her socks off her feet. When she's tired she loves to hug and kiss her baby dolls. She just went to the pediatrician on Monday for her six month check up. She weighs 15 lbs and 11 oz and is 27.5 inches long, which places her in the 50th percentile for weight and the...wait till you hear this...97TH PERCENTILE for length! Yes, with short parents! I don't get it, honestly. She also started eating solids about 5 weeks ago, and seems to love everything except for peaches and squash, but I'm still working on that. She also loves any of the secret food that Diego feeds her when I'm not looking, be it a quick taste of a green olive or a piece of ham (which I don't condone btw but he's really quick!) Well, I think I was general enough! I am going to try to be better with the updates! I hope everyone is well! Here are some pics from this weekend!

Okay, Alison just tagged me! Here are the rules: Write 7 random things about yourself.Tag 7 people at the end of your post. Pass on the tag. This is kind of hard, but I'll try to be brief.
1. I know how to juggle. I learned in junior high and just kept doing it! One of my many hidden talents.
2. I really hate to talk on the phone. Those of you who have spoken to me on the phone before should feel blessed, because I really hate it! I don't know why, I just do... except when talking to my mom!
3. One of my favorite childhood memories is dumpster diving for coupons with my mom and some siblings. You'll have to ask one of them for the details.
4. The single most embarassing thing that has ever happened to me was in college. There was a huge group of people in our apartment and we were watching general conference together. I stood up to go get something, and both of my legs had fallen asleep! I dropped like a sack of potatoes! I tried to get up again, and again I fell! It happened 3 times! Humiliated!!
5. I always wanted to be an artist.
6. To follow Alison's lead on this one, I HATE to dance! Let's do anything but dance!! Please!
7. Here's something that will be new info for my family... the craziest thing I ever did was go skinny dipping in the Meditteranean!! Ask Kerri for the details on that one!

Well, I have come to the conclusion that Lucia is a girl after my own heart -- we both equally despise dresses! I put this one on her this morning for church, and it only lasted about 15 minutes. I'm not sure if it was the dress or something else, but she seemed happier when it was off!

What a Weekend!

First of all, it's incredible how much Lucia has grown! She smiles all the time now, and she makes these cute cooing sounds. And just when we thought she couldn't get any cuter!!! Also, this weekend we had the opportunity to have Stake Conference with some apostles! On Saturday, Diego was invited to a special Q & A meeting with Elder Bednar, Elder Nelson, and President Uchdorf (lucky!) He said it was awesome. Today, Elder Bednar spoke at our Stake Conference, and we got to sit on the front row since I was translating. We felt the spirit so strongly, and we know that it was truly a unique experience. Lucia slept through the whole thing (or maybe she was listening with her eyes closed!) She also got to wear a new dress today (as modeled above :))

Lucia has a new cousin!! Welcome Elena!!

Jesus and Alison had their baby last week, so Lucia now has a cousin almost her same age!! We can't wait until they can get together and play-- hopefully it will be soon. We are happy that mom and baby are doing well! Elena Marie Moreno and Lucia Raquel Caceres -- future best friends!

First Week of Work!

This has been the first week of work and it has been so difficult! The actual job isn't so bad, but leaving Lucia has been really hard for me and Diego. Luckily, we really know and trust the woman she is staying with, so that has really helped us get through these past few days. We spend all afternoon playing and hugging and kissing her! Lucia has also been really cute this week -- Diego figured out that this weird dolphin sound he makes makes her laugh. I'll try to get a video of it for next week.

Grandma and Grandpa

So this week we decided to drive to Utah to visit my family! We decided that this would be the best time to visit, before it was too late. Sometimes I think we're crazy, but I feel like a happy crazy person. We had a really nice visit and wish that we could stay here longer!

Amy, Kerri, and Dan also visited us while we were in Utah, which was great! We had a chance to talk about old times and realize how much and how fast time has gone by!

Round Two

I am starting to really dislike going to the pediatrician! Lucia seems to get hurt every time we go. Yesterday she had her heel pricked for some sort of screening, and it seemed to take forever for them to squeeze enough blood out of her little foot. As a parent it is horrible to stand by and watch your baby scream like that and not be able to do anything! I think Diego had a harder time than I did! She doesn't really cry too much right now either, so any crying breaks my heart! Other than that, things are great. She is a wonderfully healthy baby and is now weighing 8 lbs 3 oz. She loves baths and has some awake time in the morning and evening when she likes to observe what she can. She even seems to be sleeping better at night. I do seem to think that she is going to be daddy's little girl! Her favorite place to sleep is daddy's chest!

The First Week

Well, our lives have definitely changed! We have had some interesting moments this week, especially as far as diapers go. Our challenge is going to be knowing when she's ready to be changed, because we have been wrong a few too many times! Lucia spends a lot of time asleep or eating, and we have enjoyed every second with her. Even when we have to wake up in the middle of the night, it's all worth it when you bend over her crib and she's staring at you with those beautiful little eyes. I am feeling much more rested and Diego has been a true blessing this week. I have had to send him to the store to buy something every day! Here are some more pictures. We are proud parents, so we have taken hundreds of pictures already! I can't believe a week has already gone by!

Lucia Raquel Caceres was born on July 10th at 10:16 p.m. after what seemed like a very long labor! She weighed 7 lbs 15 ozs and measured 20.5 inches in length. As you can see, she has a beautiful head of hair and I think my big feet! I will be adding more to the blog later, but wanted to get some pictures out ASAP, so here they are!

No baby yet, but we had a lot of fun last night at the Addison Fireworks Show. I'm not really sure if that is the right name, but I made it up. We drove over to a field next to a small airport and had a picnic and watched old airplanes and fireworks. Our friends from the branch invited us, so we had a great time. Apparently I can do anything, even if I'm 9 months pregnant. Here are some photos of the event!

39 Weeks!

Okay, so this is our first entry! I am trying this blogging business out, and hopefully we can be consistent with it! We are now 9 days away from the birth of our baby girl! The days go by slowly, but at the same time we realize that she could be here any day now. We think it would be really cool if she was born on the fourth of July, but I don't think my doctor would be as enthusiastic! This first blog is going to be short because I am testing it out, so check back for the next post!
